Elevating work platform (EWP) courses

Site Safety Services has all of your EWP needs covered…

We are able to help you in differing ways according to your company’s unique requirements. Depending on the types and capacities of the EWPs you plan to use, there are 3 different avenues:-

  1. EWPA “Yellow Card” course.
  2. VOC for any type of EWP.
  3. High Risk Work Licence “WP” for Boom lifts 11+ metres capacity.

EWPA “Yellow Card” course

We are Accredited Trainer/Assessors with the Elevating Work Platform Association of Australia.

Our EWPA Yellow Card course will give you training and skills in operating Boom (under 11m), Scissor and Vertical lifts in a 1 day course. The course is conducted at Darra, QLD or on-site by arrangement.  You will spend a fun day learning about the different types of EWP and after some safety checks and instruction, get to spend time operating all of the machines to gain valuable experience. The course takes up to 8 hours including a lunch break.

On successful completion of the course, competent operators will be sent a photo ID “Yellow Card”.

The “Yellow Card” is probably the most recognised EWP qualification in Australia. For more information, see here.

VOC – for any type of Elevating Work Platform

If you already have experience and can show proof of having had previous training (current or expired operator card or Statement of Attainment) in the use of  a scissor, vertical, boom lift (under 11m), or a trailer lift then you can get a VOC specifically for that type of machine.

This is common place on commercial job sites as the Principal contractors need to make sure all operators on site are trained and competent.

We can help you with “Emergency” VOC’s to get your guys ticketed and working again.

High Risk Work License – WP

This is formal training and Assessment under a WHS QLD Accredited High Risk Assessor.

The course is run over 3 days (2 days training and 1 day assessment) which can be scheduled together, or spread out to fit-in with work commitments.  Candidates that successfully complete the EWP training and assessment will receive a Nationally Recognised “Statement of Attainment” for TLILIC2005 License to Operate a Boom Type Elevating Work Platform (boom length 11 metres or more) and be eligible to apply for a ‘Licence to Perform High Risk Work’ (Class WP).  (Aligned with RTO # 91390)

More details can be found here:

EWP Refresher Training

We can conduct refresher training for any type of EWP – boom, scissor, vertical or trailer lift.  Our qualified and experienced trainers will get your workers back up to speed with the safe operation of the EWPs that they are required to use at your workplace.

Schedule a half day of refresher training for a group or get a single worker back on track.

Refresher training for boom lifts over 11m capacity will only be conducted for operators that hold a current HRW Licence for the class “WP”.
